What they don't say is that they would put more effort into school though. Maybe those incentive dollars could be spent on making school more relevant to these "at-risk" kids. I've found that many "at-risk" kids really like to attend school when they take co-op and are out of school working and earning credits. The kids don't even get paid at their co-op placement and yet their attendance improves dramatically. When they come back to school they tell me that co-op is the greatest.
