This week’s Carnival of Education is hosted by the stalwart Mamacita at Scheiss Weekly (The Scheissman Cometh?). The usual heady brew. Be sure to click through to Eduwonkette’s exegesis of ed-secretary-in-waiting Arne Duncan’s track record in Chicago, Dave Saba’s Student Success Strategy, Slice ‘em and Dice ‘em, a heartwarming tale of dissecting frogs at Bluebird’s Classroom, and Mamacita herself who hates what we’ve turned into.

Wow! I’m STALWART? I had no idea. Thanks! (I’ve always loved that word.)
Do you really endorse a screed like Mamacita’s? I’m surprised. I’ve been enjoying the blog here, but, sheesh, was that one off-putting. I’ll know better than to click on the next carnival.
Where’s Deadpan Ann? Now that (her post on speaking in tongues in the classroom) was a worthy link. Very funny. And I say that as someone who grew up not too far at all from Pelahatchie.
Endorse it? I’m not sure that it’s my place to “endorse” anyone. But I appreciate and respect her lament of the spirit tolerance we’ve lost, even if she expresses herself, er, colorfully. This line particularly grabbed me: “We live in America. Pay attention to everyone. Americans were never intended to be stifled. Americans celebrate, and most of us are happy to celebrate yours as well as their own.”
Mamacita’s screed reminds me of another post I read earlier this week over at The Atlantic.com
