WSJ Catches Up With Willingham

Dan Willingham gets serious national ink today with a glowing review of his book Why Don’t Students Like School in the Wall Street Journal.  And if you haven’t read Dan’s book yet, what are you waiting for?

Update:  The Journal is stingy in its praise compared to Bill Evers.

I actually just finished this book the other day. It’s a quick read and both entertaining and informative.

The one thing I did not care for about it (and that I suspect is more the fault of the publisher than Dr. Willingham) is the cluttered layout. I found it distracted from rather than added to what he was saying.

I agree with the book (from what I’ve read in the reviews!! I have not read the book) and the reviews. I have gone through the teacher credentialing process in Texas, so I have seen most of this debate first-hand. But I’d disagree strongly with some of the “conclusions” Mr. Willingam draws about thinking. I wrote about it on my blog: http://tinyurl.com/cmvkrb
